How to Complete Miseria

Completing Miseria means finishing the idle descent’s story promise—your party of damned souls pushing the abyss until the journey resolves—not speedrunning a twenty-minute demo loop. Somnambulist Games launched the full Steam release on August 7, 2026 (~$7.99, Mixed reviews, single-player). This walkthrough explains the run loop, Reborn cadence, floor 19+ expectations, what “the ending” asks of you, and how 100% ties to the 12 achievements. Use the Guides Hub as the index; this page is the endgame spine.

What “complete” means here

There are three nested goals players confuse:

  1. Story completion — reach the narrative payoff framed by the store (“deepest desires,” journey’s end). Steam’s The End of the Journey achievement tracks this family of finish.
  2. Depth mastery — keep clearing floors past early walls, including the floor 19 wish milestone and whatever Keep Descending breakpoints remain.
  3. 100% achievements — all 12 Steam trophies, including the hidden The Voice Below and the Keep Descending… series. Details live in Miseria Achievements Guide.

You can see an ending without every Church node maxed. You cannot honestly “finish” the account layer without Reborn permanence and the systems below.

The run loop you will repeat until credits

Every completion run is the same machine with better parts:

  1. Descend — party auto-fights; you choose when to push, farm, or return to town (How to Play Miseria).
  2. Collect gold — often manual early; magnet/auto-collect later (Gold and QoL Tips for Miseria).
  3. Blacksmith after floor 3 — gear multipliers are the run-power sink (How to Unlock the Blacksmith in Miseria).
  4. Allocate stats — Strength, Agility, Vigor, Will, Intelligence with soft caps near ~20 until Church raises ceilings.
  5. Reborn — convert depth into Dark Blessings; spend at the Church for permanents (Tempered Steel-style upgrades stay) (How to Reborn in Miseria).
  6. Expand the party — Strange Plant → Alchemist when available (How to Get the Strange Plant in Miseria, How to Recruit the Alchemist in Miseria).
  7. Idle when safe — auto-descend once thorns/magnet/survivability allow (Auto-Descend Idle Guide for Miseria).
  8. Push narrative floors — floor 19 wish beat, then deeper toward the ending (How to Reach Floor 19 in Miseria).

If any step is missing, completion slows. Mixed reviews often describe friction at steps 2 and 5; fix those before blaming the ending.

Reborn cadence for a finish, not a stall

Bad cadence: never Reborn until you “feel ready for the ending,” soft-cap at 20, crawl for hours, burn out.

Good cadence:

  • First Reborn once blacksmith is online and levels feel empty or clear times crawl.
  • Spend blessings immediately on the wall you actually hit—caps, damage, survivability, or gold QoL.
  • Second and third Reborns whenever a new wall appears; stacking is the design (demo confusion claimed otherwise).
  • Pre-ending Reborn if you are about to attempt a long final push while still soft-capped—account power beats emotional attachment to a mid floor.

Remember what resets: XP, gold, floor progress. Remember what stays: Dark Blessings and Church upgrades. Quit through the menu after Church spends so permanence actually writes—see Miseria Controls and Settings for Quit-to-save, autosave history, and Alt+F4 risk.

Floor 19+: the wish milestone on the way down

Floor 19 is a narrative wish milestone, not a random side quest. Plan it as a mid-game exam: Have you Reborned? Is the smith fed? Is gold collection solved enough for a long session? Is the Alchemist recruited if the plant already dropped?

Hitting floor 19 is often the moment players realize completion is real—the pit has a story spine, not only numbers. It is not automatically The End of the Journey. Expect to keep descending after the wish beat with the same loop, just with higher stakes. Use the dedicated floor-19 guide for the push checklist, then return here for ending and 100% framing.

Ending expectations (no fake boss names)

Miseria’s ending is the resolution of the descent fantasy: auto-combat, prestige, and party tools finally carrying you to the journey’s close. This page will not invent a named final boss roster or a fake phase chart. What you should expect instead:

  • A long-form idle campaign, not a cutscene-only epilogue you unlock at floor 5.
  • A finish that Steam can award as The End of the Journey.
  • Possible late narrative texture tied to the hidden The Voice Below—found by engaging the abyss story, not by console cheats.
  • No multiplayer gate; no paid ending DLC required for the base completion path described on the store.

If you wipe on the final stretch, bail up a floor, forge, or Reborn for another Church brick. Completion is a systems check.

100% via achievements

For full Steam completion:

  • Clear the Keep Descending… floor milestone series by pushing depth with sane idle and prestige habits.
  • Unlock The End of the Journey by finishing the main journey.
  • Unlock hidden The Voice Below by staying engaged with late narrative content after (or alongside) the ending path.
  • Collect the remaining trophies in the set of twelve as they appear in-client—without inventing wiki names for ones not confirmed here.

Read Miseria Achievements Guide for strategy detail. Treat 100% as “play the real loop well,” not as a separate checklist game.

Suggested completion timeline

Onboarding (session 1–2): Getting Started in Miseria → blacksmith → gold discipline.

First prestige week: Reborn → Church → magnet/auto-collect → auto-descend experiments.

Mid game: Strange Plant / Alchemist → floor 19 wish push → more Keep Descending depth.

Finish week: Stable idle economy, raised caps, dedicated ending push, Quit after every major Church spend, then mop hidden/leftover achievements.

Hardware hygiene: Cap FPS for long sessions; Deck users plug in; Steam Cloud after clean Quits.

When you are stuck short of the ending

SymptomLikely fix
Stats worthless near 20Reborn + Church ceilings
No gold while AFKManual pickup or magnet nodes
Deaths on auto-descendFarm safer floor; add Vigor/gear
Fear of prestigeRe-read Reborn guide; blessings stack
Bored before floor 19Recruit Alchemist; change party tools
Deck dies overnightCap FPS; lower TDP; plug in

Completion is a hub of hubs: achievements for trophies, floor 19 for the wish beat, Reborn for permanence, auto-descend for time, controls for save safety, Strange Plant for party width, gold tips for economy, blacksmith for run power. The Tier List Hub helps prioritize Church spends; the Updates Hub catches hotfixes (including the May 2026 prestige-save fix from the demo era).

Finish Miseria by respecting the idle contract: let combat run, spend gold at the smith, Reborn when soft-capped, buy Church permanence, widen the party with the Alchemist, idle only when safe, clear the floor-19 wish, then keep descending until The End of the Journey—and mop the twelve achievements without inventing fake trophy names along the way.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do you beat or complete Miseria?

Repeat the descent loop—forge after floor 3, Reborn for Dark Blessings, raise Church caps, recruit the Alchemist, push floor 19+, and finish the journey ending Steam tracks as The End of the Journey.

Is floor 19 the ending of Miseria?

No. Floor 19 is a narrative wish milestone on the way down. The End of the Journey marks story completion; expect more descent after the wish beat.

How many times should I Reborn before finishing?

As many as your soft caps demand. There is no single magic number. Reborn whenever levels near ~20 stop helping, and spend blessings immediately on your current wall.

What is required for 100% in Miseria?

All 12 Steam achievements: the Keep Descending floor series, The End of the Journey, the hidden The Voice Below, and the remaining in-game unlocks—without inventing extra names.

Can I complete Miseria fully idle?

Combat can idle, but early gold often needs manual pickup. True hands-off completion needs Church magnet/auto-collect, safe auto-descend floors, and periodic town/Reborn decisions.

Does Mixed Steam reception mean the ending is unfinished?

Mixed reviews reflect taste and friction (pickup, prestige clarity, performance). The game ships a completion path and twelve achievements; follow systems guides rather than assuming there is no ending.
